SUMMARY I co-founded Eunyull Hong with my fiancée, Eunyul Hong, in April 2013 to offer mid-priced handmade costume jewellery in France and South Korea. As a CEO, I was in charge of general business administration and the experience of running this online jewellery store has equipped me with knowledge of the legal procedures involved with establishing a company. Furthermore, I felt keenly the need to understand international trade due to high raw material costs in France.
OUTCOME The online store generated €1,000 of monthly recurring revenue (MRR) on average. Organising a group exhibition helped increase monthly revenue, up 130%.

Art-inspired Jewellery
Jewellery is art disguised as attire. A piece of jewelry is an amalgamation of an artist's vision and the material from which it is born, it is activated by context. Jewellery can be understood as a kind of installation art that is only fully realised once incorporated into the aesthetic of its wearer.
Our source of inspiration is distinguished from other jewellery makers. From necklaces and earrings to bracelets and rings, each piece of handmade art jewellery is inspired by famous paintings that keep the timeless values across centuries. Our First Offline Exhibition
Our first exhibition was held on the last day of June 2014, which is also considered the beginning of summer. A year after our foundation, we were searching for new opportunities to boost our sales as we could equip ourselves with more solid lines than the very beginning. And we were fortunate enough to be selected as a member entreprise of the group exhibition held in the centre of Paris, France.
The main conceprt of our collections for the first exhibition was, as the title tells, "cocktail", which inspired us to create the jewellery that will suit people who dream of "the luxury summer holiday" near costside. Hence, the materials that we used, such as skyblue-coloured water in jewellery containers, were to maximise the image of summer holiday so that audience could strongly feel the message that we wanted to deliever.. Furthermore, we also installed a hologram display in our section in order to effectively advertise our brand name.
Exhibition as an Effective Marketing Tool
Through our first exhibition, which entaild enormous amout of effort to prepare, I firmly confiremd that exhibitions can be one of the most effective tools to market products and services. They could offer a maximum of opportunities in one place during a limited period of time. They also generated a multitude of leads and deals. Moreover, they facilitate exchange and cooperation, leading to visions and projects that may give a new spin to an industry. Our exhibition resulted in the increase in monthly revenue from €1,000 to €2,300, up130%, between June and July 2014.

How to Get the Most from Exhibition?
Our second exhibition took place in a jewellery shop in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, France, named "Be Paris5". This time, the main concept of the exhibition was to showcase Eunyull Hong's another beauty differentiated from the previous concept. After thorough market research, we concluded that the image of "lovely Parisienne women" could be universally accepted to our main target customers.
A part of effort that we made to attract more visitors was to make an attractive window display. And once we got more exposed, we launched a series of customer promotions to bring in more customers and spread the word about our exhibiiton.
As a result, we ended up selling 95% of our products during the exhibition.

Collaboration with Paintings
We always believed that jewellery's true value lies in its emotional or sentimental worth. And painting is arguably one of the best means to convey delicate sentiments of human being. That belief eventually led us to organise our third exhibition in collaboration with a well-known painter in France, Myoung-hwa Jeong. We tailor-made all the pieces to suit her artwork, ultimately to create artistic synergy. The exhibition successfully took place in Village Swisse, next to Effiel Tower, attracting more than 500 people for a month.
Through the exhibition, we were proud that we could build a reputation as a luxury jewellerly brand in Paris. By organising exhibitions in both an art gallery and a shop, we could learn the different characteristics of management and maketing needed for each as well.

There is a lot of thought that goes into the design and making of my jewellery, and there are a couple of ways that I choose to design. I believe in the value of unique inner beauty of each individual, sharing it and receiving it. So one of my goals is to create beautiful and unique jewellery so that each one can be more confident in her/himself. And my philosophy is to use only materials that respect humanity, every piece in my collection is ethical.
